It turned out to be a gorgeous day in Roseburg! At 2:56 PM, on May 28, 2023, we have a temperature of 75 degrees. Sunny and warm but not so hot you drip sweat from breathing. I love beautiful days, but absolutely hate having to work, walk, or even sit in the sun. The AC unit in a home is a beautiful thing. Since the temperature was so incredibly perfect, Terry and I discussed firing up the Miata, washing it, and then taking it for a drive to keep the battery charged. But the car had other plans.
The little metallic green ride would not turn over. We didn't get so much as a grunt out of it. Charging the battery, it is! Hooking the two cars up to the jumper cables was promising. The act of jumping the Miata didn't work either. Her battery was completely dead. Terry removed the battery and off we went in the silver steed, the Xterra. We found a battery easily at the local Auto Zone and headed back. Terry installed the battery, and she fired right up! Of course, I make this all sound so simple. It took both of us to figure out how to hook the mount back into place after putting the battery back in and as always, nothing went as planned. But she is up, running, and as beautiful as she has always been. I paid special attention to the details of the car as we washed her surface. The gorgeous flecks of "sparkle" glimmered in the sunlight, making the emerald green really stand out.
One of the reasons the details meant so much is because we are selling her. The convertible has been a fun car to drive, but we are getting older, and it is difficult to get in and out as easily as we could have if we were 30. I have a tendency to get emotionally attached to cars in my life. The Miata is Terry's, but once I rode in it and washed it a couple of times with him, I have the connection going. It breaks our hearts to think about selling it, but it's just sitting in a lot until we visit once a week or so. We love to get in it, put the top down, and drive to the coast! Amazing trips to the beach in that car.
She still needs a good washing, a wax job, and some love put into her detailing to get her ready to go for the next buyer. I hope whoever purchases the car shows it love and care. It's a great vehicle and definitely fun to drive.
Completing the tasks revolving around the Miata, we said our goodbyes and headed out to run the Xterra through a much-needed bath too. That's when we drove to "The Foaminator."
This was the first time I had seen this beastly operation. I didn't know if I should be happy that we didn't have to hand wash the vehicle or to run and hide. But off we went into the belly of this machine. The car tires caught in the belt, and I could feel it pull us in. Water sprayers zoomed in toward us, spraying water all over the car. Then came the foam. And foam it did.
There were colored lights flashing as each step of the wash proceeded. Red, then blue, then white. All of it reminded me of a movie involving an alarm, warning people that there was a nuclear attack coming. I just wanted to see the Xterra washed for Pete's sake, not be sent through hell.
We weren't done being "attacked." Another light and in came the brushes, swooping in as though they were battling the car. We were deep within the guts of the beast. Now the car was coated in soap, making it impossible to see what was coming next, adding to the fun.
Finally, the brushes swooped in to take the car to the next level of clean. One layer of brushes hitting the top of the Nissan, wiping the dirt and debris from it. Then came the attack of the two large spinning brushes. Hopefully they were removing a layer or two of dirt, but not paint. A couple of "arms" extended across the auto, coating the paint, the windshield and all other visible parts with a light wax layer. Awesome. We were done. Our trusty steed had won the battle. Onward we drove into the sunset. Well, that was thrown in for some drama. It was not close to sunset yet.
My sweet man told me he was hungry, especially since Jasper, my dog, had eaten the last of the English muffins that we like to snack on. Since the move, we are finding places to put things. I guess the microwave stand isn't the best place to lay the package of muffins. The chihuahua can reach them. Now my dog is fat, and Terry and I were wanting a light lunch. Taco Bell it is. As we climbed from the car, my eye caught something on the hood of the SUV. It was a "washed" splatter of bird crap. Awesome. Great job, terminator.
Once inside the restaurant, I ordered a chalupa, along with an enchirito. Terry snagged six tacos and we began to eat. The day had been long, but we had accomplished quite a bit. The Xterra was clean. The Miata was clean and pictures to post on the "for sale" posting was done. Lunch eaten but Terry wasn't completely done yet. He headed to Video Games Plus and the attached frozen yogurt shop, Level Up! Always love trips to the yogurt shop. The yogurt is awesome, and the movies are at hand to search for our favorites.
Movies always play at the Level Up! frozen yogurt shop to entertain guests while they eat their cup of yogurt. It is typically Disney type movies, Pixar, et cetera, but it's always fun to see them again. The Level Up! yogurt shop also offers a game of Ms. Pacman, coloring contests for kids and those adults who haven't quite grown up yet. There are plenty of anime style characters to purchase, along with games, gaming systems and the like.
The adjoined shop, Video Games Plus provides virtual reality gaming time, pinball action, games for sale, movies on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K are also for sale. The place is full of gaming machines, including the older Playstation and other gaming devices, new and old. Both stores offer so much that quite a bit of time can be spent there. Terry loves to browse through the Blu-ray offerings and the DVD's. Great way to spend the afternoon.
I have a desk that is motorized. The motor allows me to have the desk in a regular position or move it to a standing position. It also comes with a timer, which I set at 15 minutes. Each time the timer completes the 15 minutes, the desk is raised or lowered, alternating between the two working positions. The desk also charges my phone and my headphones. Charging the phone is done with the cordless charger built into the surface of the desk. Being able to have a place to put my pens, glasses and all of the tools for a successful day of work is wonderful!
We brought the desk home from storage in Springfield at my daughter's home last weekend. Now we needed to actually put it all together and make it useful again. Of course, this means putting something else together. I hate this part of moving, as I said in a couple of my previous moving posts. But I knew it would be worth it. After our yogurt dessert was eaten, we began the desk assembly.
Of course, the screws my son-in-law sent home with us were not working as we made an attempt to begin putting them into the desk. About 30 minutes later, we figured out they came in two thicknesses, making the act of putting it together difficult. That's why they weren't working. We had the wrong screws in the wrong place. Once we figured it out, it all came together. Everything was right in the world again. Now I felt like I was home. My desk was available once more.
This is the top of my desk. The phone charger is the circular piece, with the timer, memory height buttons and the ability to raise and lower the desk for standing and sitting positions as you work. The USB plugs are on the side of the desk. The drawer lies in the front, of course.
Now I won't be sitting on the bed to write blog posts or to work. The desk, printer, headphones and phone connections are all at my fingertips now. Thank you, sweet man, for the help of getting this together!
This is Sunday, but tomorrow is a holiday. Terry has one more day off and I might too, doubting there will be many files available to work on. But that's okay. Relaxation and enjoying the company of your partner is more important! I hope everyone has an amazing Sunday and your holiday is awesome!
