Wet Travels and Honeymooning Fish
Monday was the day we chose to head north on Highway 101 to visit the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport. As I said in a previous post, I had not been there since Keiko the whale, of the Free Willy movie fame had been housed on site. Too many years had passed, and it was definitely time to revisit the aquarium since my love of creatures beneath the sea and the ocean itself is strong.
The rain we were supposed to get began to fall, leaving droplets on our dirty windshield. It was time to wash the new car! This trip had picked up plenty of bugs, dust, and other tiny debris of the nasty kind. She would get her first bath when we got home, that's for sure.
The rain fell on the hot pavement, giving off that wonderful smell of a rainfall after a summer heat. We lucked out though after only a few short moments of precipitation. Sunlight broke out from behind the clouds and the day continued to have a summery feel to it.
An hour plus a few moments and we were in Newport, ready to stroll through the aquarium. I couldn't wait! Because the tour through the aquarium is so large, we are posting the photos here with very little comment. We hope you enjoy.
This is Bootsy. Bootsy is 30 years old and loves to entertain people. He hung upside down the entire time we were there.
My sweet man was enjoying the aquarium, especially the shark tank. This was my favorite of all displays too!
These funny looking creatures are called "sea pens". They were quite odd looking to us. None of them moved while we were there. Spent their time just hanging around.
This is the one and only octopus they had in the aquarium. We snapped a couple of photos, but it remained in the corner, making it difficult to get any sort of good photo of the entire body. How dare it not perform for us, right?
Terry and I completed our adventure through the aquarium. We do have more photos of various undersea creatures, however there are far too many to fit into a post. As we drove home, we stopped at the Aquarium Village and at Pirate's Plunder, plus a couple of lookout points to capture the ocean. Those sites will be posted in the following blog post due to the number of photos in this one. We hoped you enjoyed our trip through the aquarium! If you get a chance to go to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, it is worth the time, money, and travel to do so, especially if you love the sea like Terry and I do.
Our honeymoon doesn't end here. Join us for the rest of our time together at the Oregon Coast in our next post! Stay safe, count your blessings, and love each other!
