Where Rivers Collide

Another day, another dollar as the phrase goes. Mallory called while I was doing a file. She chose to come over to get out of her house for a little while. We began to watch our Harry Potter movies. We still have one left before the final two movies. The last of the films include the final chapters of the Harry Potter franchise. We have Friday set as the day we finalize the viewing of the entire series.

But today, with munchies ready to go, remote in hand, we begin our day of sitting in front of the TV, snagging tissues during the emotional sections, and watching Harry and the other character's lives unfold.

Our bellies were full beyond belief and that tends to make me sleepy, at least when I have eaten carbs. Yes, I had ingested plenty of those today! Terry and I chatted for quite a while, watched an episode of Medium, and then off to bed we went, saving ourselves for tomorrow.

Friday, Mallory asked if she could visit again, and of course we said yes! We chose to watch part one of the finale of Harry Potter. Difficult chapter of the franchise to view, but worth it to know the entire story. It was fun, but my butt fell asleep. I sit most of the day anyway due to the wheelchair situation then add to the numbness from watching three hour movies. I love it, but wow.

Terry went to the store to pick up our veggie tray, layered bean dip package, chips, Sparkling Ice Starburst flavored drinks, fruit tray, sour cream, and taquitos. I air fried the taquitos to make them nice and crunchy, and off we went into the living room to begin our adventure.

With Togo by our side, wands in our hands, and shoveling food in faster than a broomstick ride in a Quidditch game, we began to root for Harry and the gang against all the death eaters in the final two films titled Harry and the Deathly Hollows.

We said goodbye to a couple of beloved characters during the first part of the finale. The book series becomes so much darker now that the Dark Lord is back in action. It's as always in every tale there is, with the light and shadow, good and evil battling to see who overcomes. Good series. Kudos to J.K. Rowling, for sure.

I read the books many years ago, but watching the movies brings it all to life. Putting a face to the names, bending the fantasy into the "reality" so to speak. The films really give life to the entire story.  Now we have the second part of the finale left. We are waiting for the truck to deliver tissues first, then we'll watch. We have set a goal for sometime this weekend, but not entirely sure.

Upon waking I took the dog out and let him do his thing. The grass is getting so tall that I lose my dog at times. Thank goodness he knows the way back to the porch. Blind, but he does make it.

Terry was waiting for me to set me into motion in getting ready for the adventure we had planned today. He wanted to get me out of the house for a bit and see something or do something. The search began, once more, for something fun to do around Roseburg. We have had some hard times finding anything that sounds good in the past.

Today we found an intriguing spot. Being in the sun on this unique day of 65 degrees led us to believe we really needed an outdoor adventure. We found it. Right outside of Roseburg in the city of Glide, we located a place called Colliding Rivers. Terry and I both love water, so it was calling us to enjoy all it had to offer.

As you can see, today, Saturday, is supposed to be 64 degrees, but it's already 65. Sun is out in full spectrum and the day is nothing short of lovely. It's warm, yet has a cool breeze. Not even enough clouds to threaten rain. It's a perfect day to go out and see all there is to see in the world around us.

Off we drove, first to the storage unit to grab a few things Terry wanted, then we drove onward to Glide, to see the unique phenomenon of the colliding rivers. I was excited after seeing what I had just read about in doing research.

Heading out!

Even the little purple and yellow wildflowers are beautiful against the green grass across from the storage unit facility.

The day is so beautiful that even the drive there held sights that were worth looking at.

Some clouds floated across blue skies, but nothing threatening the area with rain.

With only a 15 to 20 minute drive, we came upon the Colliding Rivers viewpoint. The viewpoint sits right on top of where the Little River and Umpqua River collide, creating some dramatic scenes during some parts of the year. Apparently when it's wet and rainy, the runoff is good, and the river is a bit higher, the collision between the two waterways boasts amazing waves and dramatic scenes. Today wasn't huge, but it was a gorgeous place to be all the same.

The colliding rivers area of Glide, Oregon is the only place in the US where two rivers collide and after smashing into each other, the water then changes direction and heads westward, toward the Pacific Ocean. Amazing, beautiful spot.

Terry and I both snagged our phones and the photo shoot began!

Terry and I took post on a bench overlooking the connecting rivers.  The sound of a rushing river is remarkable, but the sound of two flowing along and then crashing together was incredible. I know there is no technology that can capture nature 100%, but Terry caught this few moments in video glory.

We began our drive home, with talk about how much fun and how incredible the sight was. Flowing water, glistening in the sunlight is beautiful enough, but to have two joining one another to create one large river was stunning. Pictures and videos just can't collect all the beauty involved in personally visiting places of our lives, but it sure allows us to have a collection of memories via pictures. Perfect day. Perfect company. Beautiful spot.

On the way home I was able to take a couple of photos about nothing, really. Once you've been inside for as long as I have been, blackberry bushes even spark my interest. It's all beautiful and perfect. What a blessing, and a gift. Count your blessings!

Once again, enjoy your fabulous Easter Sunday. Create memories, spread love and grace to all you know. Bless you all and take care of yourself and each other. Enjoy those eggs!
