Seasons Change and So Do I
Beautiful changes are happening around us. Changes in weather, seasons, and life in general. My oldest daughter Dawn has a birthday that falls in September and it was time to celebrate it. The entire event began as a surprise party, but Jess could not get Dawn's husband Andy to reply as to what the plans were. She finally spoke to her mother and spilled the beans about the "surprise" BBQ Jess wanted to have for her.
We decided on dishes to bring and Jess was going to have Andy BBQ some meats. So Sunday Terry and I jumped into the car, excited to see the family once again. But not before we went to the jewelry store to look for a piece of glitter wear for Dawn that was host to her birthstone. Found one, we did.
We located a beautiful silver "snowflake" shaped necklace that had white sapphires, blue topaz stones, and one blue sapphire in the center to top it all off. It was the perfect choice for Dawn. They wrapped it up and we took it home.
We arrived and Dawn was standing with little Zyrah in her arms and Andy holding the new puppy, Elle.
Dawn had told us about some puppies she found that were part chihuahua and part Pomeranian. She drove to Salem on Saturday to pick one out. Her husband got it for her as a birthday gift. She was so excited. The problem with the pup was that it seemed to become attached to Andy instead, or so Dawn expressed to us. What I saw was a puppy who loved everyone, everywhere in the house who paid attention to her.
Of course, little Elle or Eleven as she has been dubbed, found everyone to be accommodating in the snuggling department. Marina was having her best day ever with little Novalee and Elle both snuggling with her.
Novalee slept through the entire afternoon. Such a good baby. The puppy had her butt in Novalee's face half the time, but my great granddaughter slept through it. Must have felt like a fuzzy blanket to her with all that puppy fuzz.
Dawn spent some time watching her beautiful new puppy eat, play, and sleep as puppies tend to do. I could tell by the look on her face that this was an excellent thing for her in getting another puppy. Last October she lost her precious girl, Bear-Bear and has missed her dearly. She still has Bella, but even Bella is getting quite old.
Watching my daughter, she seemed to be in great spirits. This made my day. There is nothing better for a parent to see their children happy and healthy, as I'm sure other parents out there are aware of.
My granddaughter Kylee was missing home too much and returned. All is right with the world again. Kylee loves the new pup and was the one who named her Elle, or Eleven, from the Netflix series Stranger Things.
Elle gave out plenty of slurps on the face and lots of snuggles. She is a doll. I love this little girl already!
Of course, as we do at every gathering, we had a BBQ of hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, rolls, veggie tray, and I made a large bowl of Hawaiian Time mac salad. Love that stuff. Apparently everyone did because we swept through an entire large bowl, with only a small amount left. It was good. Dawn's sister-in-law Natalie, made Brussel sprouts with bacon and wow, was that ever good!
A beautiful chocolate cake with scrumptious chocolate chips throughout was served with a bit of vanilla ice cream on the side. Great tasting! Yes, even as a diabetic I tried a small slice with a small scoop of the ice cream. Good stuff. My hubby refrained and for that I am proud of him. He used to be the one who would scarf it down while I refrained.
As a family, we broke into the worst and I mean absolute worst rendition of Happy Birthday I've ever heard!
Poor Dawn. Her ears must have been screaming at the sound of our voices making a feeble attempt at keeping on key.
After sharing laughter, food, babies, and cake, our hugs and goodbyes began. It's always tough to say goodbye to family, but we will meet again soon. Always such a pleasure to gather.

We drove back to Roseburg, chatting about the fun we had today. It was a late night arrival back at the homestead. Animals needed to be walked, fed, and Miss Meow-Meow yelled at us from outside. She wanted some love too. All of our fur babies are special and I guess that could include a bit of an "eating the paste special", but we still love them all, for all their flaws and unique habits, as they love us even through our weirdness. Unconditional love is always a great thing.

As per tradition, my sweet man arrived home with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers for me to celebrate our 15th month anniversary. He always picks the beautiful mixture of flowers, but is always concerned he will not get the right one. Silly, silly man.
From our house to yours, we bid you adieu, and wish you all the best of days to come. May you have happiness, love, and security, blessings, abundance, and health in the upcoming weeks. Until our next post, thank you so much for following the blog.
