Sweet Mama Macrae's, Car Delays, and Game Plays
With the cobwebs and pumpkins put away, the day flows into baking. The new bakery idea has been fun so far but let's get real here ... it has only been two days. Today and yesterday. Woohoo! With two loaves of no-sugar-added banana nut bread and a batch of beautiful Everything seasoning New York-style bagels, Sweet Mama Macrae's home bakery is happening.
Friday, November 1, 2024, brought on the urge to make some warm bagels for Hubby Mac and me to try. Boy, am I glad I made that choice! The bagels came out so tasty. The house was filled with a mouth-watering aroma of freshly baked bread and the Everything seasoning. After a couple of hours, the process was complete, and the idea of making bagels had come to fruition.
The bagels were warm and that makes any homemade bread wonderful. But as I cut into the crispy outer surface, I found the inside was warm, soft, and oh, so chewy, just like a perfect New York-style bagel is supposed to be. Of course, the Everything seasoning is perfection in its own right. A thick schmear of Philly cream cheese and we were in heaven.
I need to drive to the store and pick up items for some tasty bagel deli sandwiches. While eating the bagels last night, I craved cucumber, turkey, and sprouts. Good stuff! It doesn't take much to make us happy, does it?
I posted the bagels on my Facebook page and the business page too. Then the posting went to Marketplace for any local orders to come through. Next spring I should have a nice menu of products to sell at a market of some type or just sell from my kitchen under the name Sweet Mama Macrae's. We will see if I'm ready to pull my hair out by that time or if I'm still excited about baking.
If you have any interest in Sweet Mama Macrae's, you can follow the bakery's Facebook page. The page gives an insight into what is up for ordering during the week and also what is happening in the scheme of things. I am considering a shipping service for products I know will ship without much concern. Possibly rolls, cookies, loaves of bread, and items that I can safely get to you without having them self-destruct along the way. All of the foods sold out of the store are going to be non-hazardous, so they can withstand the travel. This will leave the packaging to deal with to keep everything secure.

Well, ladies and gents, the Oregon Ducks did it again! Ending the game with a 38 to 17 score, the Ducks remain undefeated so far this season. Kudos to the Ducks! Keep it up!
