The Circle of Life
Monday and it's a bittersweet day. My daughter sent photos of her baby girl pup who passed away a couple of days ago, while they were at the vet. Dawn and my granddaughter had to say final goodbyes before leaving her to be cremated. The photo was a good way for me to lose it for a moment and to be able to tell her goodbye as well. RIP little Bear-Bear.
At the same time, my granddaughter-in-law and my grandson were heading to the hospital. Today is the cesarean. After crying tears of sadness, I switched those tears to happiness. Sheer joy. Little Spencer was born healthy, happy, and beautiful as I thought she would be. I'm happy her mom was able to get through it well and will be able to heal. Elena, the baby's big sister, is hyped and ready to take her position on her big sis throne.
Have you ever had such mixed feelings all wrapped up in your body and mind? Such a beautiful, joyful experience of a new baby's birth, while saying goodbye to a wonderful little fur baby girl who blessed our lives for 10 lovely years. I didn't see her every day because she lives with her human mom, Dawn. But it was the fact that she was always there. I knew each time I went to Dawn's house I could pet her, hold her, and rub her little belly. The day we picked them up until now just went far too quickly. We will all miss her. Once a dog is in the family, it is loved like a family member.
Now, the baby! I can't wait to actually meet her if and when Keenan and Katie come to Oregon. I hate the fact that Keenan works and lives in Texas. So far away. He was blessed by finding his wife, Katie. Now he is the daddy of two little girls and is ecstatic over that thought. Loving it!
Spencer Marina Chestnut is welcomed into the world! Apparently she wants to cover her face from the blinding light above her, especially while she's trying to nap. Either that or she gave herself a palm plant realizing she is related to these people. 😉😏 Whatever she is feeling, she is just so perfect in every way. New babies bring such love, immense joy in a family.
Today, being Monday, I chose to bake a bit. Starting baking day on Sunday, I got through two sandwich loaves, but the boule and biscuits are still unmade. I'm planning on making some biscuits tonight still, but we will see how much time I have left after making dinner and completing tasks for work.
Scored the bread and it's ready to go to the oven to begin the transition to a lovely loaf of sandwich bread. Cannot wait! The plan is to have soup and sandwiches tonight for dinner. Sourdough bread is so much better for us. First one I've made, ever, so we'll see how it turns out.
It came out great! Not as happy with how the loaf actually looks, but I snagged a piece before it cooled all the way and it is delicious! Smeared some butter and took a bite ... Nothing better than warm homemade sourdough bread. Butter drips down onto your hand. Mm. Soooo good and definitely in need of a napkin.
Autumn day. Warm bread. Warm home. Our fur babies are all relaxed and happy. My husband and I are happy. Our expanding family is good. We can both see. We can walk, talk, and we have food to eat. Clothing lines our closets and we are good. We also have each other. We are blessed, beyond measure, and are thankful for everything in our lives. Until the next time, take care of yourselves. Hugs to all.
Hubby Mac just returned safely from work. My day ends in love.
May your home always host blessings of happiness, health, love, family, and abundance.
