Poetry in the House
If you follow the blog, you know from past posts that Terry is a published poet. With that being said, he has written a few that he has shared with us in posts on A Psychic and a Poet.
Silence is one of his most beautiful poems he has shared. That one has me almost gushing every time I read it. Definitely heartfelt words to share his experience of being almost deaf and wanting so badly to just hear simple sounds that we all take for granted.
Haiku, senryu, tanka, and free verse poems are part of Terry's repertoire. He also creates haiga. Haiga are essentially what are known as "ekphrastic poems," where the poet superimposes a haiku, senryu, or tanka onto a piece of visual art, e.g., a painting or photo.
Pulling musings from his soul, crafting an image of beauty, of heart wrenching reality.
His poems demonstrate his unique voice, which he describes in the book's introduction as, "You'll find that voice to be at times surprising, humorous, irreverent, unnerving and even raunchy, and I own that."
His ability to craft poetry to make you laugh is one of the best traits Terry has. His free verse can whisk you from the first time he saw breasts as a young boy, to the vision he has of a Costco Cruise and what that could involve. His imagination flows freely through his poetry and it shows in each delicately chosen word.
Terry has invested all of his talent into a new book titled, In a Blink of Life's Eye, currently in preparation to be published. The 100-page book will be available once Terry is able to self-publish it, hopefully soon, ready for readers to take many tours through life experiences and musings via Terry's poetry. After the introduction, the book is divided into three sections: 1) Haiku, senryu, and tanka; 2) Haiga; 3) Free verse poems.
When the book, In a Blink of Life's Eye has been released, we will be advertising it in this blog and through social media. We hope you pick up a copy, sit in a cozy spot, and let your mind go into beautiful places or laugh with Terry as he captivates you with words.
In the meantime, there are a couple of poems Terry has shared here, on the blog, starting with Silence, one of his most beautiful pieces coming from his personal experience and emotions.
