As the Snake Slithers Out the Horse Trots In
Terry and I had our first date on the back of horses Sabrina and Jack. It was a glorious day with the sun shining bright and the ocean waves soothing our souls as we rode across the sand. Best first date, ever! Now we see the horse again as they guide us through 2026.
Tonight is New Year's Eve of 2025. We have hot dates tonight, to sit in front of the TV to watch shows and wait for the ball to drop, chat, and ring in the New Year in the traditional way of toasting each other, the New Year and what it may bring, and of course, the always special midnight kiss to seal the tradition. We are hoping to see a wonderful year together and separately, letting go of old regrets, Kia cars, and injuries, to give ourselves a relaxed, wonderful year.
I have done research on what to do to ring in a new year. One of the suggestions was to meditate or pray if that's what you call it. To me, that's a given. Burning sage or palo santo in your home while announcing good intentions is another. But a new one I have never tried, but it sure seems to be surfing the waves of the Internet, is to sprinkle cinnamon onto a coin and blow it into your home, opening up the intention of prosperity. Hey, I don't care if I have to dance naked around the block while holding a candle and yelling my intentions, if it works, so be it. Hopefully it still holds true while I'm sitting in a mental ward or jail cell, but still ...
My New Year's Eve will be brought into existence with the making of some jewelry, then watching TV with the hubby while we eat, and then bringing on the chatter we so love to do. Our laughter always ensues in some way, shape, or form. We do tend to laugh a lot when we are together.
This stone is a millefiori bead from the '50s timeline. Millefiori beads are created by fusing layers of glass canes together, while adding floral designs such as the green "flowers" in this bead. The bead is made with glass canes, and by using the lampwork process, which is using a flame to adhere various colors of glass sticks or canes to create designs. Millefiori in Italian means, "a thousand flowers."
We will definitely open a bottle of the alcohol-free bubbly and toast to the year to come. Our intentions are to make the house, our fur babies, and each day of the upcoming year a peaceful, loving day, filled with fun, laughter, and joy. Bring on the horses!

Along with all the celebratory plans of New Year's Eve and New Year's Day comes football. The Oregon Ducks were slated to play Texas Tech today, on this New Year's Day in 2026. And wow, what a game it was!
For several weeks there was a lot of smack talk about how Texas was going to kick the fluffy butt of the Ducks because they have such an outstanding defense and all the usual, "The Ducks won't hold up against us," etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
I had to get out the Cool Whip to go with all of the humble pie served on the field today, as the Oregon Ducks, our Ducks, shut the Texas Tech Red Raiders team out with a score of 23 to 0. Yes, count 'em, zero. Both teams played their hearts out but Texas Tech had to swallow their pride after their patch of pride was handed to them by the Duck players this game. You didn't eat crow fellas. You ate some Oregon Duck dust. The final score was bigger than any of the runs you made in the game. Want a toothpick for those feathers?

So, let's take the time machine back 24 hours. New Year's Eve day I worked, and Terry ran a bunch of errands to get us ready for the big football game day, which included the Ducks game and all that entailed. There are munchies to be bought, drinks, I made a trip to the store after a delivery job to pick up the items we actually needed for dinner, plus one or two more munchies for the game. We are set, definitely ready, for what could be the best game of the year. As it progressed, it proved that point to be correct.
As the new year begins, we wish you all joy, happiness, and the best year ever! It already feels better than the outgoing year did. I'm looking forward to a very exciting year this year because, well? Why not? That's my intention. I have set it firmly into the universe. I want a great year, filled with all the best. Peace, happiness, joy, love, family, friends, abundance for all. Let's make it happen!

Tomorrow Terry and I will drive the new car into Springfield to raise the roof on a local pizza parlor to celebrate my birthday. Yes, the birthday was actually three days before Christmas, but so much was going on that we moved the party to January. I just want to see family again and spend time laughing. My favorite thing to do.
As 2025 slithers out on the back of the snake, the horse gracefully trots in with the welcomed new year.
A house belonging to my neighbor makes me smile each time I drive by. I had to share.
Our year comes to an end. Let's get this party started for 2026!

Speaking of 2026 and ringing it in at midnight, our Siberian husky, Togo was found sitting in my closet, staring at the wall, while crying. He was hearing the neighborhood fireworks and could not handle the thought of his world blowing up. Please be considerate when setting of fireworks at any time during the year. There are animals and veterans, and the elderly who simply cannot stand the noise. Imagine how frightened the wildlife is ...

Since we are driving into Eugene/Springfield tomorrow to celebrate, I do believe we will end this here. Tomorrow's post and photos will take space, so a new blog post is suitable for the event.
Please take care of yourselves. Have an absolutely exciting 2026, and remember to kick your hooves up once in a while. Live and have fun.
We appreciate each and every one of you, and thank you so much for reading the blog. We love to share our memories through poetry, story telling, and pictures. Take care and until our next blog post, love yourself and those around you.
