Do We Need a Chairlift for a Mud Slide?

I feel as though the house will float downstream at any moment. It's a cold, rainy week. With temperatures so chilly you feel like spending the day in bed, under covers, watching every Netflix movie or series you have ever wanted to binge watch. Unfortunately, there is work to be done.

Large puddles are forming along the gravel alleyway road. Large pockets of water are standing above the mud, creating a slippery, dirty ski opportunity. My dog just pulled me through the mud, while I was still standing upright. My shoes have plenty of traction but they hydroplaned across the muddy mixture as if I had no shoes at all on. It was a skating rink, so to speak. Yes, we have grass out front or well, actually we have wild grass and weeds out front, but all of the weeds are growing in dirt that has now succeeded in becoming a large skating rink of mud. Very slick mud, topped with a layer of water from all the rain. Have you ever been mud skiing? Get a husky. Attach a leash. Move to Oregon. Wait for a rainy day and ski!

You won't have to wait long for that mud mixture to form, as Oregon typically sees rain on a daily basis throughout the fall and winter. Spring has its share of precipitation as well. The husky is an added feature. If you have another dog that is up to the sled dog task, feel free to replace the husky with that dog. You just need the motion of being pulled forward, like it or not. It was rather fun, I must say, but dangerous. Not for the husky, but for the owner, the genius walking the husky through all the muck. No huskies were hurt during the writing of this post. Owners? Well, maybe. My pride would have suffered the most if I had fallen in some muddy water.

My sled dog or should I say my shoe dog. There was no sled involved.

I was hydroplaning across the driveway, with a layer of water over the muddy underbelly of the area. The combination had me skiing with Togo the husky pulling the way. He felt right at home. I felt right as if I was going to end up on my soaking wet ass. Now, that's a blog post!

The driveway was not only surfaced with slick, muddy waters from the buckets of water falling from the sky, but the alley had standing water, mud, and slick spots as well. The only saving grace is the alley is not on a slope like our "driveway" is. But, I haven't been skiing in many years. Didn't have to pay a dime either, so maybe we've got something here ...

After all that mud drama, I guess he's worn out. He has no shame. Of course he did me the honor of pulling my blanket cover off the couch too, to add that special eau de dog ass parfum scent to our new furniture. Awesome.

I feel as lazy as Mister Kit Kat is being in the above picture. I'm doing my tasks today, for sure, but would love to lay around like he is. Just drape myself over a scratching post and close my eyes for a while. That's a good way to live! Yes, I'm jealous. Must be nice.

The colder weather creates an avoidance of outside tasks or at least in my world. I hate going out in weather like this but maybe if I need to go to the store layer, I can attach my husky to my hand and hydroplane my way to the store. Perfect.

There really isn't much to say at this time, but I thought I would publish a post on the storm we have today, for memory sake. I guess there is a winter storm warning, but I'm not finding anything that will hugely effect us in terms of rain, wind, or overall storm nastiness. It's up in the high elevations of 2300 feet or more that will receive snow, higher winds, and an overall sucky storm situation. Hey they are technical terms. I should be a meteorologist.

I just returned from the UPS office, where I became intimate with the door of my vehicle upon return. Sorry, babe. I'm not trying to start a romance with the Xterra, but the wind slammed my face up against that closed door while making the attempt unlock the door. The fob was just not quick enough.

The wind picked up while the rain was pouring down, pushing that cold drizzle right down my neck, soaking the shirt I'm wearing under my parka-like coat. That was cold! So maybe the storm will be nasty for us for a bit too. I'm going home and cuddling with my fur babies, so I know I won't have to worry too much about any of it. Homeless pets and people are the ones I hate to contemplate how awful it is for them during this type of weather. Bless their hearts.

Once again, I'm leaving this here but wanted to cover a couple of memories for Terry and me. Wishing you all the best life has to offer! Until next time ... Take care of yourself and those around you. Let your light shine today!
