Bouquets, Bread, Boos, and Basements
I would like to begin this week's post by wishing our beautiful girl a wonderful life, wherever she is. Little Evie or Meow-Meow as we called her has disappeared. Approximately two weeks ago, she stopped coming around the house, leaving us wondering where she might have gone.
Every morning, I opened the front door to take Jasper (a chihuahua) outside to do his thing, and little Miss ran out from the side of the house or the kitty bed Mallory gave her. Evie then began wrapping around my legs, showing me love, and I reciprocated by giving her lots of rubs, pets, and adoring looks. She has become my routine, my baby girl, and the only cat who genuinely loves me. She loves Terry too, as he seems to draw cats to him, but she was the only kitty I have been around to come to me the way she does.
She disappeared two weeks ago, leaving me unable to say goodbye to my furry baby. Each morning, I still call, "Meow-Meow," when I step onto the front porch with Jasper in tow. My wish is that someone has picked her up and claimed her as their own, giving her a loving, warm, peaceful home. Goodbye, my sweet girl.

Our car is still in the shop with a diagnosis of the 12-volt battery and the hybrid battery battling it out for the power. Something is draining the hybrid battery, creating a car that is running out of juice. The two tug at the power until the car is gutless and cannot accelerate. She is still what I consider a new car being a year and a half old and should not be having problems this early in the game. At least that's my untrained mechanical guess. But what do I know, right? I'm just a girl. 👩😏😏😐😒
So for two weeks now, our beautiful broken car sits in the service center of Kia in Eugene, suffering alone. When will it be done? Nobody seems to know. They don't know how to fix it or what to do at this stage of the game. I'm just glad it's not a surgeon looking at it.
Requesting assistance from something called Kia Tech Line, we now have to wait for the mechanics to get an answer on what to do from them. This leaves me without a vehicle and two weeks' worth of work is down the drain. My brain is like oatmeal. My foot is swollen and I'm falling into a mild depression.
Reverting back to my go-to projects in transcription, I am trying to keep my so-called shit together, but it keeps getting tougher every day. This is a very dangerous situation for me to be in, as I tend to think and come up with ideas when I'm bored. You don't want me to have this much time to think. It leaves me with more projects to get involved in and that can mean trouble. My poor husband.

Speaking of my husband ... my Terry came in with the most beautiful bouquet on Thursday, the 17th. The 17th is our anniversary date and this would be our 17th anniversary month. Wow, where has the time gone?
A variation of flower types, all in hues of pinks, purples, and reds. Love this bouquet again, and love the man who presents them to me every month! I have included all of these photos of the bouquet to keep them for our memories. The flowers may die off after a week or two, but the memories will remain in the blog. That's a great thing!

Caught up in a few moments of boredom while cooking spaghetti, I set up my bread machine and started making a loaf of regular white bread. It had been a few months since my last loaf, so I was ready. Terry and I love bread, especially fresh, hot loaves from the oven. But then again, who doesn't? Yes, I do know what shape comes from the bread machine. The phallic-shaped bread has had me giggling before, that's for sure. I cannot say for sure why my mind went there, but it did. Anyway, changing subjects ...
The loaf came out perfect, with a nice crumb and great flavor.
Heat it up. Put a little butter on it and voila!
Now it's time to get back to work ...
Typically I bake the loaf in the oven instead of letting the machine handle that part of the process, but this time I sat back and enjoyed the fresh baked bread aroma without all of the work. While I do enjoy working with the dough and shaping nice loaves, every now and then it's great to sit back and let the machine deal with all the steps of baking a loaf.
The other day I set the machine to "Dough." Once the dough was ready, I took it out, rolled it into a rectangle, and smeared the dough with butter. On top of the butter, I sprinkled brown sugar and cinnamon, then rolled it all up into a nice loaf. I baked the bread until nice and brown, removed it from the oven, and finished it off with a white glaze. Warm cinnamon swirl bread is so good! Terry and I had a couple of pieces and sat back to finish watching our show with full bellies and smiles on our faces. I love autumn for ringing in the baking season!

Well, our Oregon Ducks did it again! They played Purdue at Purdue and returned home with a 35 to 0 win! Terry and I both love to watch the games and to see them win makes the viewing even better! Great game, but nothing like the nail-biting, hang-on-your-seat type of game of last week. Last week was not only the most important game of all time the Ducks could have won, but it was such a close game that it made it an exciting one at that. This season is turning out to be an awesome one! Thank you, Ducks and Coach Lanning!
The Ducks were thrust into the number one position in the country after Texas lost their game to Georgia. Texas was in the number one spot but once they lost, this opened up the throne to the Oregon Ducks. So very proud of the Ducks and all they have accomplished this season.

We have had a fairly calm weekend. Our plans for this week are to do the same as last week, in waiting for our car and the typical tasks at hand. We hope all of you are staying safe and shining your light. As our nation moves into the election process, there will be turmoil for sure, but we can overcome it and move on.

Halloween is coming soon! Speaking of Halloween, our basement light was on again a few weeks ago, without either of us being in the basement for quite some time. Harry is at it again.
I have turned off the television before heading into bed, but there is a sound that follows the turn-off process. A tone. One single tone to indicate it is off. However, lately, that single tone does not come for a few moments after the TV is off. Sometimes that tone repeats itself at least one more time before it is finished for the night.
I mentioned it to Terry one evening and we both blew it off as nothing much. But that night, as Terry shut off the TV, a few moments later the tone came through loud and clear. Terry was surprised by the length of time between pressing the "Off" button and the time it took for the sound to come through. We both laughed at the thought of our basement spirit playing games with the electronics in the house.
Halloween night may be an evening of going into the basement with a recorder to see what I can pick up. Last year I suggested I go into the attic on Halloween, possibly taking Mallory with me, but then I injured my ankle. So that adventure can't happen, at least not for me.

We hope all of you have an amazing, safe week, filled with love, laughs, light, and lots of fun. Until our next post ...

Cooper (Marina's therapy dog) as a baby. Cooper has since passed, but was a photogenic, beautiful boy, along with possessing natural empathy for humans and other animals, making him perfect in his role as therapy pup. This boy helped many people combat fear and anxiety in stressful situations, such as courtrooms, dentist offices, and even those children who come out of horrible abuse situations. When animals have more compassion than most humans, it's time to change the world ...
