Last Week on A Psychic and A Poet ...
Hey everyone! Sorry for the delay in bringing you complete and utterly useless information, but Terry and I want to let you know we intend to continue our streaming of entirely needless posts for your edification. In other words, sometimes in life, you've just got to say, "What the fuck?" and go with the flow.
Life has been anything but a constant party for us, but we are grateful for being together and gaining a closeness that is not found in most relationships. It's not that our lives have been awful by any means. The typical stuff that happens in life creates challenges for everyone and we are not immune.
I spent six weeks on my back, so to speak, with COVID and all that entails. Both ears plugged from the virus, leaving me with an underwater sensation, foggy brain, and a feeling of having a head cold. December 8, I began to feel sluggish. By my granddaughter's wedding, two days later, I was definitely into the full spectrum of the virus' symptoms. Hearing loss is still apparent and occasionally I'm struggling to catch my breath. But it is one thing we all, as a society and a race are working through.
Between our visits to Eugene, Junction City, Springfield, and Lowell areas, our lives have been relaxing for the most part. On the weekends spent in Roseburg, Terry and I find comfort in sitting around the apartment together, sharing the details of our day. Trips to the Wildlife Safari and one day down by the flowing waters of the Umpqua River kept us entertained.
Trips to the Wildlife Safari Park in Winston Oregon, plus visiting the Umpqua riverbanks in Roseburg have given us something to keep us busy during the weekend time we have together. We also watched Finding Nemo and Finding Dory, movies that Terry had never seen. Because of this, we now own a flopping clown fish toy for the cat and now burns the desire in both of our hearts to own a saltwater fish tank, including, of course, a clown fish or two.
Terry found himself wanting another tattoo. Because of this yearning, he was off to see the tattoo wizard to make this desire come to fruition. He was torn between several patterns of the lotus and one Buddha image. After deliberating for a couple of days, he finally came to a decision. In my opinion, he definitely chose the right piece of art to put on his arm.
Terry now bears this gorgeous lotus on his arm. This photograph was taken after the artwork was freshly painted. Each day the tattoo looks cleaner, clearer, and definitely more beautiful.
By the end of the work week, this is typically how all of us relax and sit around the apartment. We love our calm, wonderful life together and would not have it any other way.
And, last but not least, Kit got a new vibrating clown fish. Kit is the "problem child" that is curious about everything. He has to shove his head in my purse before I leave and after I return. He climbs into bags to see what I brought home as groceries. But the best is the night partying he does. This large feline helps himself to whatever is in the house. You know, things like reading glasses, shoes, shoestrings, laptops that are left open, hairbrushes or hair ties. But the main attraction (pre fish) is separating the slats on the blinds to check out what the neighbors are talking about. Problem with that is that he leaves the blinds open, ensuring the neighbors or anyone walking by has a great look into the house where we may be sleeping or getting dressed. The bedroom is not so private any longer. Kit Kat definitely sees to that.
We do love our fur babies though. Each has a unique personality, and we are happy they have allowed us to be in their lives as their pets. I wouldn't have our home any other way. We are moving into another place soon, one that we have waited a few months for, and then we will let the kitties have a room full of toys, a cat tree, and fun. For now, the clown fish is keeping Kit busy and out of trouble for the most part. Best $10 every spent!
Our little man, Jasper, got a new hoodie. He struts when we take him for walks up the street, showing off his new "The Snuggle is Real" jacket.
And what month would be complete without eating out at Hacienda Vieja? Once again, we started our meal out with warm chips and salsa.
Rice, beans, a ground beef enchilada and an awesome ground beef tamale completed my dinner.
Terry's meal consisted of rice, beans, salsa, sour cream and his favorite, the steaming hot fajita.
Great dinner and another moment to discuss the day and share our feelings for one another. We are still figuring out the details of the upcoming June wedding and chat about our excitement of being wed. Writing of vows is expected, as Terry is writing some for me. Nerves are going to hit, and I know I'm going to have a difficult time getting through that part of the ceremony. I told Terry I might need to be picked up after I pass out anyway. I don't do well under pressure (smile). This will be interesting.
But our families will be joined together for the wedding day, creating a bond we hope will be strong and will last forever. I met Terry's daughter and her son the other day and she is a beautiful, sweet, amazing young woman. Her son is quiet, kind, and adorable. The bonding process will become stronger over time, as does any blending of family members. So far, it's been wonderful!
Discussions around the wedding have been great. We both want a day filled with family, good times, and fun. The ceremony will be held outside at the Wolf Tree Ranch property, overlooking the breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Our desire is to have immediate family in attendance. There is talk of having a sunset wedding, but due to family coming in from distances and their return home scheduled for that day, we may have to forego the sunset wedding.
Both of us would love to see a simple ceremony, with the attention surrounding the reception after the vows are exchanged and the "I do's" are complete. There is nothing better to me than to have family sitting around a fire, chatting and having a great time together. There is talk of having a smores bar set up after dinner!
We will toast with champagne and decorate with natural, lovely decorations. Of course, the lighting will be strands of lights, along with candles galore. There will be tule' strung across the large tree swing that is the Wolf Tree Ranch logo. The ceremony will take place under an arch in that area.
Smoked meat and a table full of food will be served after the ceremony. It's going to be family, fun, laughs, stories told, and of course, good people and great food. It will be a night to remember for Terry and I, not only for the wedding event, but for the families joining that night to help us commemorate our last hoorah for love.
We are hiring a videographer and a photographer to ensure we have pictures and clips to share with others who weren't there. But most of all, I cannot wait to be married to the man I love and cherish. I feel so blessed to be in this relationship and my heart sings to know that I will be married to such a gentle, loving man. There will be photos and videos that we will share when all is said and done so that each of you can be a part of our celebration as well.
Terry and I, as always, wish each and every one of you the best in life. Thank you all for reading the blog! We appreciate each and every one of you for wanting to share in our life journey together, as we share our hopes, laughter, dreams, and most of all, our love for each other and for life in general. Life is amazing.
