Pups, Pizza, Pineapple, and Petunias
Before my daughter left for her weekend vacation, I saw this plant on her patio table. I had to ask if it was a real pineapple or if it was a fake one like those I have seen before. It is real. She told me she purchased a while ago and it takes about four months before it produces anything. Well, lo and behold, there is an actual pineapple bursting forth from the greenery.
I know I can be a bit naïve at times, but this was amazing to me. I never thought we could grow any sort of tropical fruit here, in Oregon. Hell, I can't keep a hydrangea going for several years in a row. But a pineapple? I wonder how long this awesome plant will survive. If it were in my charge, probably about a week, but here it is in Marina's yard, growing a real pineapple. Interesting to me, to say the least. It doesn't take much to impress me.
Still having a bit of smoke in the air, the sunset was splashing orange, pinks, and even a touch of purple into the sky. The sun setting tonight was not as gorgeous as it is often up here, but it was still pretty fabulous.
Amazing beauty is bountiful up here on Wolf Tree Ranch.
Terry and I spent time out on the back patio. Him smoking his cigar. Me smacking the wasps with the electric tennis racket type of bug killer. They are beginning to back off as the season ends, but the ones still flying are so annoying. I make an attempt at a backhand move to kill the little buggars. I am swinging the racket back and forth faster than Serena Williams taking a swing at the game winning ball. I hate them.
The cat is comfortable and ready to hit her bed. All four dogs have stopped romping and have dropped their heads into the plush sides of the doggie beds sitting around the house. My sweet man and I chose pizza for dinner. We felt a pepperoni, olive, onion, and mushroom pie sounds great. While eating our dinner, we watched a movie and for the life of me I cannot recall the name. It was boring in most places in my opinion. Terry thought it was just "okay." When you can't recall the name of the film you watched just a couple of hours before, I guess that tells you how well you enjoyed it. Or it's a sign of old age. Even with my mind blanking the name, I do remember it was not that great.
Pizza done. Movie over. It is time for me to say goodbye to my sweet man and let him get home to ready himself for work tomorrow. I say goodbye and wish him well. My turn comes tomorrow as well. Heading out in the morning to get home too, so the time is not long before we see each other again. He heads out of the driveway, and I walk into the house, ready to begin the clean up before Marina and John arrive home tomorrow. I know the pets will love seeing them again and I know they will be excited to see their people.
The trip to the ranch was fun, to say the least. It was a great break from the usual stuff at home. Flowers in bloom everywhere, all the pets and wow, the scenery! I chalk this up to another successful time at Wolf Tree.
As the sun sets over the hill and the moon peeps through the clouds, it informs me of the arrival of yet another bright day coming over the horizon in a few short hours. Although we are never promised another day, the gift is there, waiting to be opened, and to be grateful for. I am grateful for every day, every breath, and every second of being able to enjoy the beauty of life around me. I feel blessed for all things in my life. The people I know and love. Family, my fur babies. Terry and our life together.
So, readers, we were gifted this day and the day is coming to a close soon. I hope you made the most of it! Hoping you laughed as hard as you could, loved as much as you were able, and of course lived your life fully today too. Until next weekend, thanks for your visit. Terry and I wish all of you the best life can offer!
Checking on the ladies before I call it a night. Threw some freeze-dried worms into their coop. They love them! Time to check for some fresh farm eggs!
Nothing in this nesting box.
And nothing in this box either. Hmm, ladies. Not doing your job?
Until next weekend, from Wolf Tree Ranch and soon to be the Macrae house in Roseburg, have an awesome week!
