Aging Pizza and Flowing Rivers

Our last day of relaxation on the weekend came and went so fast! Today is Sunday, April 21, 2024, closing out the weekend by having a blast. The day began with us being blessed enough to have Mallory come over and join us.

My new daughter arrived around noon, walked the dog, and then we all piled into the car. Terry and I had been looking for something to do today and the Discovery Gardens looked like it could be a possibility. Mallory informed us it was not her cup of tea, so we chose to go to the Colliding Rivers again to show her how gorgeous that place is.

In about 15 minutes, we arrive at the viewpoint of the Colliding Rivers, the only place in the United States where two rivers slam together, changing the direction of the Umpqua to the west, where it flows westward toward the coast. It's gorgeous, amazing, and fascinating. Definitely worth the trip. Mallory was shocked at how beautiful it is.

The Little River cuts inward from the left, slamming into the Umpqua River. Both rivers join into one large movement toward the coast and into the Pacific Ocean.

The waters of the Umpqua and Little River are a nice blue, with green tones.

It is said the best time to visit the Colliding Rivers viewpoint is during the fall and winter, when the rivers run high. I guess the collision between the two waterways are spectacular, as they smash into each other with such force, leaving water along the banks. That's when we plan on going for sure. I would love to get photos of water crashing together with such harshness.

Terry was snapping photos from all the angles he could! It was a nice day, with some sun, but the wind was cold. We held up for a while, then had to take shelter in the car for the warmth.

We happened to see a small duck swimming along in the combined river. The water fowl looked so small as it coasted along in the cold water.

As we were climbing into the car, Mallory was saying something to a man getting into his car. When she joined us, she mentioned that he had a drone out over the water today, snapping photos. I've always wanted to get a drone after goofing around with one a few years ago. I would love to own one for the photos they can take, not for any other reason. Could be fun. Maybe another hobby I will have to look into.

Anyway, after visiting the favorite spot in Glide, we decided to go eat some pizza at Round Table. Terry ordered a medium Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza, with some cheesy garlic twist bread. Mallory wanted a salad, so he grabbed her a salad bar plate. We ate until we couldn't breathe.

Then it was off to Walmart to grab some munchies for a movie we were interested in. Mallory asked us if we had seen the movie, On a Clear Day. Barbra Streisand, Jack Nicholson, Bob Newhart, and many others. As in true Barbra Streisand fashion, the movie was enhanced with the range of her voice, and all the skills that are Streisand. Good movie. Not a real fan of musicals, but I did enjoy the film. Base line of the film is reincarnation.

Watching the movie took up quite a bit of the evening. It was time to relax and for Terry to enjoy his cigar for the evening. I laid out on the couch and grabbed my laptop to finish out this week's blog posts.

This has been another great week, spent together. I had a lot of fun and it is complete with Mallory and Terry. Next week, we have Jessee's baby shower to attend (pics coming), and some other fun to be had. It's going to be a busy weekend.

The ALS Walk is going to be held in Eugene the weekend after that. Lorenzo, Dawn, Andy, Jessee, Brandon, and the rest of the family make an attempt to go to the walk. I'm going to go, along with Terry and Mallory. I will most likely not walk or I will take the wheelchair.

The walk happens every year. Each year we get a great family photo out of the event, as well as the fun had by all. Dawn's father-in-law has ALS and so the walk means a lot to the family. Pictures will be taken from that as well.

Kylee, my granddaughter has lived through her 22nd birthday this weekend as well. Dawn and Jess decorated Jessee's house and Kylee invited her friends. She looked gorgeous, the house looked amazing, and fun was had by all. One of Jessee's friends made the cake.

So happy birthday, my 22 year old sweet granddaughter! Happy birthday to Kaylie Rose, 24 years old, born on the same day as Kylee. They have both become beautiful, healthy, sweet girls and I'm proud of them both. I love you girls!

Speaking of birthdays, sweet man's birthday is April 25. He will be turning 68 years of age this year and looks as handsome as ever! To me, at least. I am making him a German chocolate cake that is sugar free. I know. It sounds awful, but there are so many ways to make sugar free treats any more that taste as good as the original. The development of replacement sugars has come so far over the years.

Mallory is heading over. We will have dinner of pasta fagiolo, one of Terry's favorites, followed by the cake. This also means a trip to Wildlife Safari again and then home to watch a movie. This will be an individual post on Thursday, because the photos will be taken!

Until our next blog, please take care of yourselves! Sparkle bright this week! Let your love light shine and your blessings be divine.
