Goodbye to Summer and Hello Thailand!

Autumn is quickly moving in. I'm saying goodbye to summer and hello to bright colors in the landscape. But Terry and I refuse to release our summer fun quite yet. Tonight we have a concert to attend in Sutherlin hosted by Music Off Central. The band is Summer Groove Party Band, who is noted by their performance at the PGA Tour and several other accolades as a group. That's the plan anyway. Who knows? It's also been sprinkling all morning and now some of the afternoon.

But first, we are going to make a trip to Thailand again. This time we are dragging Mallory along. All three of us are going to have the mango sticky rice combination of loveliness to see how Mallory likes it. Me? I'm going to be melting into the booth seat. So good. Even if we do not make it to the concert, the Seven Thai trip is a must.

Mallory came over, brushed the dog while she waited for me to arrive home. I had gone to purchase dog and cat food as we were running low on both. I walked in. Mal and I began to chat for a while. Soon Terry came in and said he was ready when we were. Off we went to Thai heaven.

Once seated, Terry got up to use the restroom. The waiter appeared and asked what our choices were for the evening. I ordered three mango sticky rice dishes and told Mal to buckle up for a delightful ride.

It didn't take long for the food to arrive. Mal took her first bite of that warm rice coated in coconut sauce. I watched to see her reaction. Her face lit up like mine did. She informed me she could now see why I always talk about this dish. She wants to return to eat a dinner at some point and then order another mango sticky rice plate.

We ate our desserts and went back home. Mal took off to get Hayden and meet us at the park in her town of Sutherlin. Terry and I loaded up the ice chest with our favorite drinks and headed out.

It began to sprinkle on the way there. We found parking and pulled out our ice chest and a chair for each of us. The park had some people in it, but not many. Chairs and blankets were on the ground, waiting for the band to come on stage.

Well, that's where this whole thing blew up on us. The rain came down harder, soaking both of us. We each had on a heavy sweatshirt and shirt underneath. Drizzling rain made it miserable. Then it began to rain harder. Several people around us picked up their chairs and headed for the cars. There weren't many concert goers anyway and now there were even fewer. Terry and I headed for the car as well. I was beginning to freeze.

So, what to do since we couldn't see the concert without swimming? We went back to Seven Thai for dinner, of course!

Hubby Mac started his meal with a plate of calamari and two sauces. He dipped and ate, smacked his lips, and came back for more. Meanwhile, I was looking at the walls, the ceiling, and anywhere besides that plate full of undersea nastiness. "Eat fish? No kiss," was my reply to the repulsiveness of sliding these pieces of an undersea spider down his throat. "Not until you Lysol." "Aw, come on babe." "Um, no. I do have bleach if you prefer that."

Finally our entrees arrived. Oh, so good.

Light, fluffy breading surrounding thin pieces of white chicken meat on top of a plateful of the house fried rice was just my style. I couldn't eat it all of course, because we had finished the mango sticky rice earlier. So, a box it is.

Hubby Mac had his favorite yellow curry dish. It comes with steamed rice. It's a bowl of lovely yellow curry sauce or soup if you will, featuring potatoes, onion, broccoli, and carrots. It is so good!

Oh, and the baby ears of corn as everyone calls them. Red peppers also join the party to add flavor and a touch of color. It's a wonderful dish and comes with a small bowl of steamed rice.

Of course there was no dessert this time, as we had it before eating dinner. Mal had gone home too, after she arrived and saw it was raining. We will have to get together again soon since this didn't work out. Dang rain. Like I titled this post, Goodbye to Summer.

This morning I backed the car up to leave for work. I received a delivery order from a local restaurant and needed to get there on time. On the way out, I noticed these weeds were dying off for the season. I've never seen anything like this or at least I've never paid attention before. Very odd.

See the white flower above the brown round flower in front? This is called a wild carrot plant. The white flowers close inward when dying off for the season, leaving the tiny teardrop shaped brown seeds that fall and the plant reproduces for the following season. They look so odd as they curl inward.

I have seen so many of these plants along roads, in yards, etc., and basically considered them a large weed. I've never paid attention to the way they close themselves off for the fall and winter seasons. Nature is amazing.

Just a few tidbits until our next post. We do hope all of you have a grand week, filled with love, hope for the future, and blessings. Thank you for reading the blog. We appreciate you!

Hurry back, spring!
