Just Thinking and Blinking on a Weekend
It is Saturday. My favorite day of the week. The Oregon Ducks have a game today. Game days are always at the top of the list of things we do. This will be the 11th game this season. Not bad for a group of winged fellas.
We are playing the Wisconsin Badgers today. Here's hoping for another win in the coffers, leaving one more for the Big 10 conference next week when we play Washington. Ugh, the huskies. As number one in the country, the Ducks have found a way to win every game this season, for the first time in the Big 10. Kudos, Ducks!

I went out on two deliveries last night in the "Groaner Loaner," my nickname for the new car. I just want our car back! Anyway, the moon was beautiful and bright. In plain sight from my last delivery of the evening, I snapped a couple of shots to share. The moon looked bigger in person, but you know how pictures work.
I was able to stop for a moment to get these pictures without traffic behind me, getting upset at the standstill in their evening. I thought it was beautiful and was worthy of a photo or two.

Not that this matters to many, but it's fun and I'll share it because I can ...
My daughter and I love chocolate-covered cherries. Well, I love the cherries and the blueberries coated in the good stuff as well. Oh, let's be serious and honest here. I fricking love chocolate!
But I digress. I went into the store to get dinner items for Terry and me but did a sudden screech of shoes when I saw this. Cherry cola flavor? Yum. They had vanilla, regular, and this beautiful new flavor. Had to snap a picture and send it off to Dawn. She immediately sent a drool text back. I know what I'm picking up for her on Thanksgiving. I may even have to try one.

Now, in the grand scheme of things, chocolate-covered cherries may not sound important, however, I will also get around to the valid stuff. I do have to share this.
My husband, Terry Macrae, has just finished his book. It is being published as we speak, or so you've heard in several posts. But we were just sent a sample copy! The book itself will be available for purchase through Amazon once it's ready to go!
This is the cover for the book. I was excited to see it finally arrive!
Of course, it comes to us with the stripe across the book showing it is not for resale. We will be announcing the book again when it's available for purchase! Meanwhile, I'm proud that he followed through and completed the poetry book. Kudos to you, sweet man!

Today Terry and I wanted some French onion soup for dinner. Off I went to the store to pick up four large onions, a baguette, and some beef broth. Yum.
A chilly day outside. Soup is always good on days like this. We haven't had French onion soup before, so why not?
The Oregon Ducks were playing the Wisconsin Badgers tonight. Perfect time to make soup and eat while watching. That's what we did.
While the soup was simmering to open up all those lovely onion flavors, blending it into the beef broth, I threw in the garlic cheese toast to crisp it up. Peering into the living room to see the TV, I saw the Ducks struggle a bit in this game. It's not like them. They have not had a bye week for about eight weeks now. I truly believe they are exhausted.
The Oregon Ducks have played some fierce opponents in their first year in the Big 10. Their wings seem to be drooping slightly. They do have a bye week this next week, although they work hard during those weeks. We'll hopefully see a flock of Ducks return, flapping their wings during the next game against the Washington Huskies, one of their biggest rivalries. At least they won't have to travel. The game will unfold in Eugene's Autzen Stadium, the home of the Oregon Ducks.

The final score was a shocker but the Ducks flew away with 16 points over the Badgers' 13. Like I said, the Ducks were struggling. The number one team in the country still holds the beloved title though. We will see how the final game plays out and we're always proud of our Ducks!

Our soup came out wonderful! Plenty of onion slices were first sauteed and then boiled in beef broth to create a beautiful soup. Topped off with a slice or two of provolone cheese and a piece of garlic-cheese toast. If you like onion, this soup was one of the best we could have chosen. Beautiful blend of garlic, onion, broth, cheese, and a sprinkle or six of pepper. What a way to warm up on a cold day!

Sunday is always a pretty quiet day around the Macrae house. We are doing our usual, with me trying to get orders and Terry relaxing before his week of work begins again. I think most people relax on Sunday, whether retired or having to return to work. Hopefully, everyone enjoys their Sunday, no matter what you're doing. Going to church is a commonality most Americans share. Whatever you do, please stay safe, and happy, and count those blessings!
We send love and light to you all and thank you once again for reading the blog. We're ending this here to get on with our Sunday afternoon. Remember to shine your light!
Follow us. We've fallen and we can't get up!
