We Bow In the Presence of Alumni
This week was special for our Togo, shown here sitting like a boss. Roseburg's Bark & Recreation event was held on Saturday, May 3 and he was able to strut his stuff along with the rest of the alumni pups.
The day was filled with puppies from all over the area, most being adopted from Saving Grace Adoption Center in Roseburg. A parade was held in honor of all the alumni babies who were adopted over the course of their life. Togo was one.
I fell over a curb this week during a delivery that left me skinned up and sore. My ankle hurt, wrist was showing signs of a sprain, and my knees and elbows were telling me I messed up. Because of this, I stayed back at the starting point, but had a chance to take some photos of the event.
Such a klutz I am ... left me a little sore and not walking in the parade. But this gave me a chance to take video of the dogs in the parade and the event as a whole.
Terry and Togo take in the scenery and the booth offerings at the event. Togo has a chance to stop and smell the other puppies who have gone before him.
Togo is very interested in a certain spot. Must have been a cute female who passed through.
We stopped by one booth to get a footprint. While Togo was being good as they painted his pads with green glitter paint, he fell to his side in true husky drama fashion. But we ended up with a cute footprint to frame and put by his photo on our pet wall.
The park was filled with pups and their humans, booths, food trucks, and swimming pools for the dogs to cool themselves. With an addition of a bubble machine, the park was alive with motion, smells, and dogs of all types. Great day!
For the canines, attention was focused on other dogs and the smell of foods. Once in a while a bubble or two caught their eye.
Terry tried to get Togo interested in a swimming pool. He seemed to enjoy it. I had thought about getting him one for the house so he can cool off this summer.
We made our way around the park then settled in to wait for the parade.
Togo patiently awaiting the next move he was asked to make. Meanwhile, he was taking in the sights and smells.
And the parade begins ... Terry and Togo are in the rear.
It was a cute little parade with lots of proud owners of adopted babies.
My two guys came back to our original space. Togo was getting hot in his fur coat.
Sitting for a while longer, we finally chose to head out and go home. Our pup was getting warm with his fur and his bandana on. He had an awesome afternoon, filled with fun. Togo strutted his stuff proudly with the best of them. Our beautiful boy was exhausted.
Well done, alumni. Well done. All the pups at the park were awesome. It was nice to meet other people and their better half, the dogs.
Putting our tired Togo in the car, we noticed he was a happy guy. We were proud of him for being such a good boy.
The Barks and Recreation event was a good time had by all. I had a chance to see other huskies, but none that were colored like Togo. We still talk about how amazed we are this gorgeous boy was in Saving Grace up for adoption. He was five years old when we brought him home and we have had him for a couple of years now. I cannot imagine our lives without this goofy, loving, sweetheart of a boy. We are grateful for our Togo. He completes our life.
If you can, adopt a pet today. The way they change your life is incredible. Our lives are fuller and the love is endless. Terry adopted Kit from Saving Grace. I saved my chihuahua from a nasty situation many years ago, and we took our once feral cat, Esme into our home. We couldn't be happier with all of them. Rescue and adopted pets are the best! There are far too many of them out there to not adopt or rescue.
