As the Kia Turns

Sunday, June 8, 2025

Life does go on, even without a Kia. While I'm missing my work, getting out of the house, and even seeing some beautiful sights, I have plenty to do. Question is, do I really want to do it?

House cleaning. I've been wanting time to get to those little chores around the house. Now I have the time but don't really feel like doing them. Ah, well. Such is life.

I opened an online store called Clutterful Crapola and have spent the past few days filling it with items. The store is basically an online garage sale. I threw in the jewelry I had not sold when I was a Paparazzi jewelry consultant and some clothing, a set of rollerblade/roller skates with helmet that Mallory had, a nice silverware set Mallory's grandmother had, a camera and bag, plus other items from around our house and my stepdaughter's home.

Crapola is doing well actually. I've had to ship many items out to several places around the United States. It has been fun. Filling the store and taking care of orders gives me something to do too. Not that I don't have enough I could and should be doing, but we all know how that goes. Your interest is where your mind goes.

Like I said, it's been a hobby that keeps me busy!

Today is a Sunday. Sundays are relaxing I guess. Last night we barbecued some skewers and ears of corn and brought them in to watch Blues Brothers while we ate. Great food, amazing company, and definitely a good movie. Nostalgic, that is for sure. Been a while since I watched that movie too, which made it even better to see it again. Terry had not seen it since it first came out.

And what can I say about the food? Nothing better than onions, green pepper, sirloin steak, yellow squash, potatoes, and nice mushrooms barbecued to a nice brown with tinges of char on the edges.

Earthy flavors from the mushrooms, onion and green pepper blended to create the kick of the dish. Potatoes soft and smoky flavored and squash. What do we do with squash? We put it on there to pretend we're eating healthy. Sirloin steak sitting on a grill, collecting that beautiful barbecued flavor. Perfection for a Saturday night.

That was our evening for the most part. The rest of the time was spent hanging out. I watched another show as Terry headed out the door to sit under the cover over the patio to enjoy an after dinner cigar.

Walking Mr. Togo Swanky Pants this morning, I noticed the beauty of the trees. Nature is amazing.

Budding flowers on a tree along the alleyway.

One of my favorite trees is the maple tree. I love the vibrant red color and the design of the leaves. Especially the Japanese maple!

As with the tree blossoms in the pictures above, I have no clue what this thistle looking plant is, but I love the blooms.

Even the annoying blackberry vines that take over our yards, nature provides us with blossoms in late spring/early summer and then brings on the berries that are so good in pies, alone, or in various other dessert dishes.

It's almost time for the blossoms to die off, leaving juicy, plump blackberries in their place, thanks to nature.

Well, we are going to leave this here. Until our next post, we do hope your days are enjoyable, relaxing, and special. Make those memories! May you be showered in blessings galore. We hope you are happier than a seagull with a French fry!
