Barbecues, Boomboxes, and Blooms Blowing in the Wind

For our last couple of days of the weekend, sweet man and I chose to stay at home, away from the chaos and turmoil like we experienced yesterday on our trip to Eugene. That was a wild adventure, but we had enough stress. It was a barbecue day.

Terry's latest hobby is to put songs in chronological order as they came out during certain decades that are his favorites from that time. He creates CDs for his car and his phone. We have a small boombox that he brings outside once in a while. I climb into the swing while he sits in his chair smoking a cigar as we listen to the fun tunes from our earlier days.

Tea, a smoking barbecue, and the boombox create an atmosphere of relaxation for us both. This time, I purchased food to put together shish kebabs. Pieces of onion, mushrooms, green, yellow, and orange peppers, sirloin steak, and yellow squash, plus potato wedges, made up a nice kebab.

Oh, yeah. It was all smelling so good!

Mm. All the peppers blended with the scent of meat and onion, the aroma of the mixture floating through the patio. It smelled heavenly.

I kept each burner on the lowest setting to slow cook the food until it was perfect. Finally, each luscious barbecued piece of food had a nice char on the outside, was soft and edible, and ready to go.

Inside, we went to watch TV and to eat our dinner. Great music, wonderful company, amazing fur babies, entertainment, and such a good, calm night spent with each other. I love our home and our lives together. After yesterday, we sure needed a quiet night to relax and take in all life has to offer. We have decided that barbecuing skewered food is the way to go. It was perfect.

June? Is it seriously June already? I'm loving the warmer weather, that's for sure. Taking Mr. Togo Swanky Pants out for his walk, I noticed he needed a good brushing. Little tufts of white hair were sticking out underneath his black topcoat, indicating it was time he needed some plucking and brushing again.

Once again, Terry turned on some music he had put on a CD, and I began the task of brushing our beautiful boy. I can brush him for an hour and still pull hair off of him like he hasn't seen a brush in weeks or even months.

This is after I had brushed him for about 1/2 hour.

We have a brush that digs deep under the double coat and pulls out any loose hair. I have a comb I can use to follow up and finish the task.

Huskies are known for their beautiful, double fur coats to keep them cooler in the summer and warmer in drastically low temperatures in places such as Siberia, where the Siberian husky originally hailed from.

The husky has a heavy shed, dropping most of their undercoat twice a year, but it keeps shedding even through the rest of the seasons. It's constant, but so worth it. He is absolutely gorgeous, always.

Yeah, it's snowing.

There are always remains lying over the green grass or tree droppings when I'm finished. You should see my living room floor when this task is done in the house. It's like having cotton brought into the home and spread out all over. This is why we cover our furniture and can't have nice things. Add a couple of long-haired cats to the mix, and yeah. Everything comes up hairy.

As I finished the brushing of Mr. Swanky Pants, I noticed we had some flowers blooming along the fence between us and the neighbors. Pretty. It's nice to see plants blooming again.

So, Saturday and Sunday held absolutely no craziness or odd experiences to report. It was a peaceful day, a day of joy and happiness spent together, with our fur babies. Ah, it's nice to be home.

Until our next post, we wish you and yours all the best life has to offer. Life is what we make it. The offerings are there; we just need to look around.

Take care of yourself and each other. We appreciate all of you. Thank you for reading the blog!
