Groovin' on a Sunday Afternoon

What better way to spend the weekend than lying back and enjoying things as they come? Terry and I did just that this weekend.

Once again, Terry began his day by running to get a caffeinated drink from Starbucks or Dutch Bros. I remained at home to get my start in jewelry making. I completed three projects today, and that, my friends, is quite a bit for me in one day. When linking beads together on a wire and then connecting them to a chain, it requires a considerable amount of time.

The first set is a black crystal and gold round beaded necklace with earrings.

The second project is made of Venus jasper and jade beads.

My third completion consisted of a Maneki Neko lucky cat necklace and earring set. I love the little kitty beads and wanted to use them up, but even now, I still have two left.

In the afternoon, we decided to go do something together to get out of the house for a while. I was tired from making jewelry, and Terry wanted to get out, explore the day, and take a break from being at home. We headed back to Stewart Park, where we set up our Subway sandwiches, drinks, and chips underneath our favorite leaning blue spruce tree. It's the simple things in life that make us happy. Perfection.

Our little friend. A beautiful blue spruce tree that grew uniquely. This makes us love it more. Branches fold over the area beneath the tree, creating a pocket of sorts, and that's our special place to be.

Yes. This is what life is about. Relaxing days spent outside, enjoying nature. The conversation between us grew from what a lovely day to discussing spiritual theologies. We often explore questions we have about the world, our being, or life in general. It brings us closer, even when we disagree about certain aspects of life, which is not often.

As the evening winds began to pick up and the sun topped its descent into the horizon, we said goodbye to our friend, the leaning spruce, packed our dinner items back into the cooler and bag, and reloaded the car. Energized and joyful, our outing was complete. Now it was time to get home to take our fur babies out for their evening walk. Terry's picnic idea is a good way to get out, enjoy nature, and enjoy each other without the many tasks that demand our attention at home. It's a wonderful thing to do on the weekends.

Shortly after dinner and our discussion of how beautiful our fur babies are, it was time for Terry to go out and read, while I spent a couple of moments making some chocolate pudding. It's one of our favorites for dessert, especially since it is sugar-free.

I watched a few moments of television and played a game on my phone simultaneously. Soon, it was off to bed for me. I love to snuggle up in bed with my favorite furry guy, Togo, and watch a show on my phone until I fall fast asleep. On his days off, Terry manages to find things to do until the wee hours of the morning, then he comes to bed.

Saturday, July 12, 2025

Saturday brought about the same thing of being relaxed and staying around the house. We were able to complete a few menial things while enjoying each other's company. I love it when Terry is home on the weekends.

The usual routine took place today. Hanging out, doing little things, watching TV later at night, then hitting the sheets. It's all good. Probably not for someone reading this, as I'm sure you're expecting some chaos, drama, and eventful happenings. Hey, we are closing in fast on 70 years of age. What do you expect?

Sunday, July 13, 2025

If you're expecting something on a Sunday, rest assured, you will be bored. So far, the day has consisted of reading for Terry and piddling around in the office and the rest of the house for me. Nothing exciting or unexpected so far. Just living our lives as old people.

We leave you with this short post until our next episode. Remember to take some time out for yourself this week. Love yourself. Give life all you've got, shining your light along the way.

Take care and hugs to all of you. We appreciate each and every one of you who join us in our adventures and memories. Thank you for that.

You are special. You are loved. You are a miracle. Live your life that way.

Love and light to all,

Terry and Vicki Macrae
Togo, the Siberian husky
Kit the Birman cat
Jasper the chihuahua
And Esme, the tabby cat

Esme sleeps with the big dogs on the left-hand side of the couch. She is dark as is our living room, so it can be difficult to see her.

Jasper, the 16-year-old chihuahua.

Have a great week, everyone!

Take it from Tolski, the Xolo (Mexican hairless), life is what we make it.
